Marriage Advice - How To Keep The Fire In A Marriage
Is it really possible to keep a marriage happy ever after?
A great marriage is always something you will have to work at. And it is not only you. Both of the partners need to be willing to work at it. There will be a lot of tender loving care needed, if you want to keep your relationship fresh and exciting. When you are both willing to give and receive, the chance for survival of your relationship is increased.
Apply these 8 tips on how to make your marriage work and you won't have any problems:
1. Learn how to communicate effectively. It doesn't matter if you just got married or if it has been a long time since you two started out - this will build a strong relationship. Listen to your partner and be sure you understand what they are trying to convey. While talking to each other, give full attention to the conversation. Look at your partner in the eyes when they are speaking to help you really understand them. Don't just hear. Always reveal through your behavior that you have clearly understood everything said.
2. Don't suppose to know how your partner feels about something. Just because you like something don't volunteer them to do it with you. ASK! Always be so attentive to make sure that they want to do it too.
3. Proclaim - I caught you! When you watch your partner doing something good. Then praise them for doing such a wonderful thing and show them your appreciation. A little appreciation goes a long way and you will be amazed about the results. When you make the effort of showing your partner that they make you happy with something, you will be finding that they will repeat doing nice things.
4. Do something together every week that you both enjoy. Take a class together, go hiking, fishing, read poetry to each other. Look for any shared interests and keep doing them as often as possible.
5. Be the best friend of your partner. Always encourage them when they are working toward a goal they want to achieve. Hold their hand when they need it and give them a shoulder to cry on. Share all your dreams and reveal your goals, so you both can work together. When the accomplish something, always let them know that your are proud of them.
6. Never neglect your partner. Don't let yourself be so involved in Your Own life that you forget to be nice to your partner. Kiss and hug them every day. Never spend the weekend on the TV or with your friends only. By making it a habit to spend quality time together each weekend, you will grow closer and have a lot more in common to talk about.
7. "Never go to bed angry" sometimes this can be hard to do however, it is so important. Once you let an anger simmer for too long, it becomes much easier to come to a full boil and before you know it, you never work out any problems you just go to bed or leave the house to avoid them. Learning to agree to disagree if you have to will help in keeping the peace. This will specifically be helpful with smaller problems. You need to make sure though that you really agree to disagree. Don't waste time being angry about the small things.
8. It is OK to admit you are wrong. If you were wrong, admit it. Being proud doesn't help you achieving your goals and it will not support you to a great marriage either.
Although there will be always individual differences in a relationship, living in harmony is possible. Exercise the points above and make sure you clear all disharmony before going to bed.
