Classic Rock and Kiss
For those who are around the 70s, when rock and roll was really flying, chances are you remember the group KISS. Formed in 1972, this band is most memorable for their members, who wore extravagant costumes and painted their faces. The anonymity of the group of supporters the plot along with its elaborate theatrical performances, including breathing fire, spitting blood, smoking guitars and more. Although this tactic may seem excessive, the top today, KISS has won over 24 gold discs and sales that exceeded 80 million.
Idea makeup for face stems from the desire to imitate the band comic figures. There was a demon, Gene Simmons, Starchild, Paul Stanley, Spaceman, Ace Frehley and Catman, Peter Criss. Each person took more than one character represents your personality. It was not until 1983 that the band members of kiss without makeup on.
KISS Gene Simmons beginning of wine, whose real name is Chaim Witz and Paul Stanley, whose real name was as different from his stage name (Stanley Harvey Eisen). The two started a band called Wicked Lester. After recording an album, he left the group in 1972 and formed his new group. As Peter Criss, the drummer, joined the duo and three focused on a rock harder days of Wicked Lester. In early 1973, guitarist Ace Frehley joining the group and then officially called KISS. The idea came from Criss, whose former band was called lips. Frehley designed the logo, making the "SS" appear as lightning. Because the letters were like the Nazi SS, a symbol to show illegal in Germany, the band changed the album cover and cargo in Germany for a logo that appears as amended backward Z.
In March 1973, the band recorded a five song demo. On November 1, 1973, Kiss became the first act signed to Buddha Records, later renamed Casablanca Records. KISS began a tour of Canada in February 1974. Initially KISS sold only 75,000 copies of his album. In 1974 they recorded their second album, Hotter Than Hell. This album is not good either. In 1975, a third album, "Dressed To Kill was released with the song from "Rock and Roll All Nite." The group continued to play until September 1975 with the launch of Viva!, Who won a first KISS Principle 40 single, a live version of "Rock and Roll All Nite".
It was not until that the ballad "Beth" was released as a single album sale will bounce KISS. The song "Beth" # 7 was a success for the group. After this, the group has released two studio albums of great success, in less than a year, Rock and Roll Over and Love Gun. Between 1976 and 1978 KISS was 17.7 million dollars in royalties for recording and music publishing. KISS quickly became the most popular band in America in 1977.
Among the sales of music and KISS merchandise, the group millions of dollars. The group did not peak until 1978, when the album Alive II by piece in platinum, made the highest average.
Drummer Peter Criss made his last tour with the band in 1979. The band found drummer Paul Caravellow replacement called Eric Carr and later gave him "Fox" makeup.
In 1983, feeling it was time for a change, Kiss made the decision waive its makeup and costumes of the mark. Officially appeared in public without makeup for the first time in a September 18, 1983 appearance on MTV, which coincided with the release of the album of the glam metal band again, Lick It Up
Lick It Up became the first gold record for KISS in three years. During these years, without makeup, KISS has been struggling with its identity and fan base. Simmons, arguably the dominant force in Kiss during the '70s, became less with the group in the 80s while pursuing outside interests, over all, a film career. After exposure of the band, facing the loss of the personality of the devil. Meanwhile, Stanley became the driving force behind KISS, and its most prominent members.
Although members of the soundtrack played together in the same time, the group is still quite notorious for all ages of listeners and an important part of the history of rock and roll.
