Is it alright if I stuff my drums with pillows?
I have a Ludwig Accent set, and today I stuffed all of the drums, including the Snare with pillows. This has made the drums a LOT quieter...can this possibly harm the drums in any way? My friend said something about the pillows strecthing the shells, but I think he is full of it. Is it alright if I already stuffed them? They sound great.
Of course they'll be quieter, they're not resonating anymore! I could only imagine what that would sound like and it completly negates the reason to have drums!
As for wether or not it'll harm you drums I highly doubt. Even cheap starter drums have at least 10 ply shells and in a fight against a Wood Drum and a pillow I'd say the wood will win anyday! 
But why stuff pillows inside your drums? If you want to make them quieter get Practice Pads. Otherwise let them ring!! Thats what drums are made to do! Listen to any recording of drums and the Great Sound you get is from the heads and shells resonating, otherwise what's the point?!?
